Wonder Whooo knows how to engage the hearts of our children?

above all else...

How our children respond to the invitation depends a great deal on the opportunity they are given to

What is shaping your children's thoughts about who God is? Who they are?Our modern world is full of conflicting messages about WHO God is.  The purpose and beauty in God's Creation is credited to random chance. The protective boundaries God put into place to keep us safe are mocked and distorted as oppression.  The supernatural is ignored or denied when God's love, beauty, goodness and power is on display, but He is often blamed for the darkness, confusion, and suffering, brought on by the Enemy.  To make matters worse, there are even conflicting messages coming from the church. Is it any wonder there is a world of confusion surrounding our adolescence and young adults?
When children develop an incorrect or shallow view of God, it limits their ability to love Him deeply. - For example, if they believe God's position towards them is one of anger, they will feel unsafe. Outwardly, they may either rebel, or  wear themselves out striving to please Him. In either case, inwardly, they will harbor bitterness, anger, and fear towards God, rather than feelings of love.  - As another example, if children believe God is indifferent toward suffering, they will harden their heart and run away from Him when experiencing pain, instead of opening their heart and running towards  Him.  So where do we teach our children to find truths they can build our lives upon?   WOW World of Wonder CreationWOW Words of Wonder Bible

Responding to a child's wonder should be primary goal of education, but too often, the opportunity is overshadowed by things deemed more important, like challenging curriculum and busy after school schedules . Wonder Whooo's mission is to come alongside every parent, friend, family member, and educator, with creative ideas, meaningful resources, and hopeful encouragement to help you answer the wonder stirring in the hearts of children everywhere.

WHO we believe God to be will impact our life more than anything else because it shapes our our beliefs about WHO we are. This is equally true for our children. Identity and purpose.

40 different authors over a period of about 1,500 years, including kings, prophets, fishermen, and scholars. Now, that is a wonder!!!

Childlike wonder...Tiny sparks of curiosity that help us view the world with awe, ask big questions and see the beauty God created.   God created a world of wonders, and then placed inside each person the desire to wonder and the ability to feel wonder in response to what he created.

Our children's ability to love God in this way doesn't happen overnight, any more than seeds thrown into the wind will instantly produce a garden.  Instead, God plants seeds of wonder in the heart of every child to woo them back to Him.  the other leaves behind a hard, dry desert, always thirsting for more.

Not only is God the most creative artist, He is also the Supreme Storyteller. Presenting stories in the Bible in a fun and creative way will keep their wonder alive for God's Word.

The more we teach children rightly about who God is and allow them toUnderstanding their worth in God's eyes—the more they will be drawn to love Him with all their hearts.  In turn, Loving God with all their hearts, will ultimately fulfill their deepest longings and shape them into individuals capable of loving themselves, loving others, and living the abundant life God created them to live. Isn't it just so cool how God knew that would happen?!

Foundational starting point of a Christian education must be In the Beginning, God created the world. God revealed himself through creation and through His Word. Creation validates what we see in His Word, and His Word validates what we see in creation.

The most important thing you can ever teach a child is how to Love God and live  from a full heart, for everything else flows from it.

Goals:  explore God's creative world and His Word to answer their two most important questions: I wonder who God is and I wonder who I am.

Section Headings: Why a Christian Education?

Maybe it's not just about what they know, but WHO they know and how they love that really matters?

A.W. Tozer, "An attribute of God is whatever God has in any way revealed as being true of Himself."  Help kids discern in every lesson, every subject, etc...what that teaches them about an attribute of God.
Ask the question in everything they learn, what does this teach me about Who God is and Who I am.

Before children can choose to put their trust in God, they must see His goodness.

How will they know He's better than everything else if they don't see Him on display through wonder?

From a young age, children marvel at the little things - the beauty of a flower, the wings of a butterfly, the playfulness of a squirrel . They begin to wonder who made the world, where they came from, and most importantly, who God is. When given the opportunity to wonder,  children grow to know God because it opens their eyes to see His hand in everything around them. Wondering about the stars helps them understand how big He is. Add more traits here. The animals teach His playful side. As they feel the warmth of the sun or hear the laughter of a friend— they learn the good gifts from God. Wonder helps children feel close to God, reminding them He is always there.   As they grow and experience the world through wonder, they naturally feel more connected to God, and their hearts are more open to loving Him with everything they have.

Who our children believe God to be will impact their lives more than anything else we ever teach them because it will shape what they understand about the world and what they believe about who they are. Everything in their lives will reflect one of these things.

To wonder is the act of asking questions or thinking deeply about something, often in a way that is full of awe or surprise. When you wonder about something, you’re expressing a sense of curiosity and a desire to understand or explore more about it. For example, you might wonder how a rainbow is made or why the stars twinkle. It’s that moment when your mind is filled with questions or marvels at something that feels special or mysterious

It’s that sense of being deeply impressed by something we don’t fully understand, like a starry sky, a new discovery, or a moment of joy. Wonder makes us pause and appreciate the world around us, sparking our imagination and often leaving us with a desire to learn more or explore deeper. It’s a mix of excitement and curiosity that opens our eyes to the beauty and mysteries of life.

Childlike wonder...Tiny sparks of curiosity that help us view the world with awe, ask big questions and see the beauty God created. Wonder is a gift from God, inviting us to draw closer to Him, discover His goodness, and fall in love with Him with our whole heart.

Proverbs says we should guard the heart above all else. What if a child's HEART really is the "wellspring of life?"  (Proverbs 4:23) If everything else they do really does flow from it, how can we capture the hearts of our children in a world of constant distraction and deception?

"The human heart is a strange thing. It is always seeking something it does not understand."

This quote speaks to the deep longing and sense of wonder within us, a desire for something beyond ourselves, something that can only be truly fulfilled through a relationship with God and understanding our true identity. Lewis often explored the idea that the heart’s desires are shaped by something greater than our immediate understanding.

reword some of the above two paragraphs so as not to duplicate opening page

Every child is born with a natural curiosity, a sense of wonder that draws them to explore the world around them. This wonder is a gift from God, planted deep within their hearts, inviting them to seek, question, and marvel at the beauty of creation. From the very beginning, children are fascinated by the world, constantly asking “Why?” and “How?” as they search for meaning and understanding. God designed this innate curiosity as part of His plan, knowing that through wonder, children would begin to see glimpses of His greatness. It’s through this lens of wonder that they are drawn to explore His creation, recognize His presence in all things, and begin to understand the depth of His love and care for them.

In addition to the natural curiosity that leads children to ask "How?" and "Why?" about the world around them, it is equally important for them to wonder "Who?"—who made all of this? Who is behind the beauty, the order, and the purpose they see in creation? This deeper question is a gateway that leads them back to God, the Creator who designed everything with intention and love. As children explore the "who" of the world, they are invited into the profound truth that God is not just a distant force but a personal Creator who desires a relationship with them. By nurturing this sense of wonder about "Who," children are guided toward discovering the heart of God, helping them understand that all their questions ultimately lead to Him, and that He is the source of all wonder.

Nature teaches.  Ask the animals...they will TEACH you.

Nature speaks.  It helps answer some of our questions and raises our curiosity to ask new ones.

Stories of the Heart

Fairytales

There is no greater fairytale world to engage the hearts of our children than the world right outside our door. We are living in the most magical wonderland ever imagined.

Connect this to ideas of teaching through movies/stories and connect with a section in the resource tab.

We can  use the timeless elements of fairytales to instill wonder in raising our children by helping them see that these stories reflect deeper truths about God’s creation and the grand story of the Bible. Just as fairytales are filled with adventure, beauty, battles, and heroes, we can show children how God's world is just as filled with awe and mystery, waiting to be explored. , we can help them see that everything is part of a larger, magnificent story that God is telling. Just like the heroes in fairytales, we can help children understand that they are part of God’s story, with a unique purpose and a place in His plan. The battles between good and evil they read about in stories can be connected to the spiritual battles that we face in real life, with the Bible offering us the greatest hero—Jesus—who came to save and restore all things. Teaching children that their lives are part of this epic story helps them grasp that they are loved, important, and called to adventure in a world that is full of wonder. By sharing these stories alongside the truths of Scripture, we can nurture their hearts to live with the awe of God’s creation, the excitement of His plan for them, and the joy of the happily-ever-after He promises in eternity.
through creation, through His love, and through the promise of a future where all things will be made right

When Wonder is lost in Education...

Loss of Curiosity and Wonder

When children are regularly rushed through tasks and pressured to achieve, their curiosity and wonder can be stifled. The questions of their heart may get buried beneath a pile of assignments, grades, and to-do-lists. The joy of discovery can be replaced by a need to perform, which over time, causes them to stop seeking answers to the deep, meaningful questions God uses to draw them closer to Him.

Loss of Identity and Purpose

Constant pressure and packed schedules can lead children to feel like their identity is tied to their performance and their self-worth becomes defined by grades, productivity, and external approval, instead of by the love and purpose God has for them. Children may begin to feelings of stress, anxiety, and fear of failure.

Loss of Innocence and Joy

In a fast-paced, achievement-driven environment, children can become numb to the wonders all around them because their focus shifts to what needs to be done instead of how they can connect with God.   This relentless focus on success robs children of the very things that make childhod rich - innocence, curiosity, wonder, freedom, play, emotional connection., and joy. It is essential to create space for children to explore their questions, nurture their hearts, and find rest in God's love.
